Hamilton Harbor Lighthouse Takes Its Place on Naples Bay

Landmark lighthouse will welcome boaters and guide them to new public fuel dock

Naples, Fla. (April 11, 2008) – Collier Enterprises has installed a lighthouse on Naples Bay at their new Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club. The lighthouse is a first for the bay and will welcome boaters as they enter from Gordon Pass or Dollar Bay.

“The lighthouse was designed with inspiration from well known Florida lighthouses including the Sanibel Island lighthouse,” said Collier Enterprises’ vice president Christian Spilker. “We hope it will become a Naples Bay landmark.”

At 24 feet tall, the lighthouse is made of glass fiber reinforced concrete, which covers an aluminum frame, and has stainless steel riggings. The widow’s walk railings and light encasement are made of copper. It will be illuminated, but will not function as a navigational tool.

The lighthouse will also guide boaters to the new Hamilton Harbor Fuel Dock. Opening to the public in May, the facility will be professionally staffed and will feature a seven-foot deep access channel, 100-foot floating dock, top-quality fuel with ValvTech additive, and a variety of provisions including live bait, tackle, ice, beverages and sandwiches from Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club.

The lighthouse was fabricated in Bonita Springs by general contractor EECON and arrived at Hamilton Harbor in several pieces. It was assembled on-site atop a pre-set platform that stands about two feet above water.
