Hamilton Harbor Boathouse Receives CO, Marina Now Open

Naples’ First Concrete Boathouse Raises the Standard in Dry Storage

Naples, Fla. (May 23, 2008) – The boathouse at Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club is now complete and has received a certificate of occupancy. It’s the only concrete boat storage facility in Naples and will withstand winds up to 150 miles per hour. Completion of the boathouse marks the opening of the Club’s marina facility.

“The Hamilton Harbor boathouse sets a new standard in the dry storage market,” said Pat Utter, vice president of real estate for developer Collier Enterprises. “Combine it with our exceptional location and service, and you won’t find a more convenient or enjoyable boating experience anywhere.”

The boathouse was built using the innovative tilt-wall concrete construction method. The walls were poured into concrete molds, cured and then tilted up with the help of a crane. Tilt wall construction gives the boathouse greater strength and durability than the more common pre-engineered metal construction.

“It’s one of the first boathouses built to withstand 150 mph winds,” said Ted Maupin, certified marina manager and director of marina operations for Hamilton Harbor. That’s notably stronger than the 115 to 140 mph protection typical with standard boat storage facilities along the Gulf coast, he says.

In addition to storm protection, the Hamilton Harbor boathouse will provide comprehensive fire prevention and protection, with a high-tech sprinkler system and concrete walls separating each bay. The boathouse design also features an 84-foot-wide aisle, compared to the 70 foot standard, making for safer, more efficient handling of boats. The aisle is a 14-inch thick concrete slab engineered to hold the weight of the club’s 55,000 pound capacity forklift, one of the largest ever manufactured.

The boathouse has 325 slips and will accommodate boats up to 50 feet long, 20 feet high and 15 feet wide. Slip prices range from $100,000 to $500,000. Members who store their boat in the Hamilton Harbor boathouse enjoy unlimited in and out services, discounted fuel, soap wash down and dry, complete freshwater engine flush, first class concierge services and social membership privileges.

The completion of the boathouse follows an early April opening of the club’s old-Florida style clubhouse, which sits waterfront on Naples Bay.

According to general manager Jack Sullivan, the Hamilton Harbor clubhouse evokes the same relaxed atmosphere found in Southwest Florida's classic waterfront clubs like Useppa Island and the Rod and Gun Club in Everglade’s City. “Members in boat shoes and shorts are perfectly welcome,” he says. “We want our members to have a relaxed, informal waterfront experience – provided with the highest standards of quality and service.”

The club’s social and slip members will enjoy a full range of amenities and activities like waterfront dining, and social and educational events. A full-time activities director will also lead nautical and nature programs, including boating rendezvous, fishing tournaments, guided eco-tours and backwater kayaking.

Located less than 10 minutes from Gordon Pass, Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club offers wet slips for boats up to 60 feet, dry storage for boats up to 50 feet, concierge services and waterfront dining. Social memberships are also available. For more information, visit www.hamiltonharboryachtclub.com.
